JASV Language Classes
Fall Session, October to December 2017
Japanese Classes for Adults (10 Weeks)

The JASV will offer up to two courses. The main textbook is Japanese for Busy People I (AJALT). The Level 1 course covers the first half of the book and Level 2, the second.

For each class, there will be one lesson a week for 10 weeks, one and a half hours per lesson. Level 1 classes start on Monday, October 2nd and Level 2 on Wednesday, October 4th, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The fee is $160. In addition, textbooks cost approximately $32. The course may be canceled in case of low enrollment, so we ask that you please register in advance. The classes are held in St. Edmund's Hall on the campus of St. Michael's College in Colchester.

Beginning Levels 1 and 2

Description: This class is an introduction to speaking, listening, reading, and writing Japanese, with particular emphasis on the conversational patterns that occur in everyday life. Students will also be introduced to life in Japan and Japanese customs and culture.

Level 1 - Mondays, October 2 to December 11

Level 2 - Wednesdays, October 4 to December 13

Japanese Class for Children, Fall 2017

Class information for Beginning Japanese
Suggested age for this class: 4 to 8 years old
Date: Sundays, October 1st to November 12th (total 7 sessions)
Time: 10:45am to 11:45am

Location: Japan America Society of Vermont (123 Ethan Allen Ave. Suite 306 Colchester, VT 05446)

Tuition per student: Depends on the number of students, but the tuition for the total 7 sessions won’t exceed $57.75 per student.

Description: This class is an introduction to speaking, listening, reading, and writing Japanese, with particular emphasis on the conversational patterns that occur in everyday life. Students will also be introduced to life in Japan and Japanese customs and culture. Students need no Japanese ability for this class.

Class information for Intermediate Japanese

Suggested age for this class: 9 to 13 years old

Date: Sundays, October 1st to November 12th (total 7 sessions)

Time: 9:30am to 10:30am

Tuition per student: Depends on the number of students, but the tuition for the total 7 sessions won’t exceed $57.75 per student.

Description: This class is for children who already have some ability for listening and speaking Japanese. Students will read short stories to acquire more sense of comprehension. Writing will also be a focus. Students will also be introduced to life in Japan and Japanese customs and culture.

Please note

*Each of the classes requires a minimum of 4 students. It may be canceled if the number of students is less than 4.

* Because we offer only two classes, the level of Japanese comprehension may vary somewhat, some students may have a little and some may have more Japanese. Also, please understand that there might be students of different ages in a class.

* Please pay the total tuition on the first day of the class. (Check made out to Japan America Society of Vermont)

*Sorry, no refunds if a student misses a class.

* We will accept sign-ups until September 24th, 2017.
