    • Children: Sunday, 10/12, for 7 weeks.
    • Adults: Wednesday, 10/15, for 10 weeks.


  • Two lectures at CVU (Champlain Valley Union) High School in Hinesburg
    • 10/23: History of Japanese Pottery
    • 11/6: History of Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangement)


  • Open Office for children at the JASV office, 11/8

2013 Major Events


  • Shinnen Kai (New Year Welcome Party)---Jan 13
  • Participation in "Tsunami Two Years After" Concert at SMC---Mar 7
    • Masako Gibeau and Masako Carter played "Shamisen".
  • Participation in "Healthy Kids Day" festival at YMCA --- Apr 13.
    • 7 JASV members participated and offered Origami and Calligraphy (names written in Japanese) workshops for the children. They enjoyed and appreciated it.
  • Japanese Class for Children started --- Apr 21
    • 2 classes started from Apr 21 and ended on Jun 2 successfully.
  • Annual JASV Meeting & Picnic at Sand Bar --- Jun 23
    • During the picnic, rain storm attacked us. This was unfortunate.
  • Participation in July 3rd Parade in Montpelier (Vermont capital) --- Jul 3rd
    • We made placards and were ready for the parade. But we canceled the participation due to an anticipated rain storm with lightning and thunder in Montpelier.
  • Support for finding host families for High School Students from Japan --- Jun/Jul
    • 15 high school students visited Vermont for two weeks and they enjoyed home stay.
  • Japanese Class for Children
    • Two classes started from Oct 6.
  • Japanese Class for Adults
    • One class started from 10/10.
  • Tsukimi (Moon Viewing)
    • We enjoyed Tsukimi event on Oct 19 at the So Burlington Dorset park.
  • Joint Event with Ben and Jerry's
    • Oct 25, UVM and J & J's had a joint event, "Light Up Nippon" film watching. JASV supported this event. JASV member Sara Dickey participated as the guest speaker.
  • Open JASV Office for College Students
    • It was held on Nov 9th. Toshi Saitoh presented lectures of Japanese potteryhistory and Ikebana history.
  • Participation in Bakuretsu Con Conference (canceled)

  • Participation in the International Festival - December 7, 8, and 9.
    • Origami workshop for children (moved to participation in the international festival
