The Japan-America Society of Vermont (JASV) is again offering Japanese language lessons.  A Beginning Japanese Language Class (Level 1) will be held on the campus of St. Michael's College and begin on February 14th, 2012, continuing for 10 sessions.  Class time is 7:00-8:30 p.m.  The fee for the course is $195, which includes textbooks.  (A special discount is available for students who have one or both of the texts or would like to continue with their previous kana learning method.)  For registration contact: Larry Solt, [l.solt (at) burlingtontelecom.net]



Class Information


Instructor: Linda Sukop

Level 1

Objectives:  This class is an introduction to speaking, listening, reading, and writing Japanese, with an emphasis on conversational patterns that occur in everyday life.  Students will also be introduced to life in Japan and Japanese customs and culture.

Meets on Tuesdays in Room 120, St. Edmund's Hall, St. Michael's College, beginning Tuesday, February 14th.

1) Japanese for Busy People I: Romanized Version, Revised 3rd Edition (includes CD), Association for Japanese-Language Teaching, Kodansha International.

2) (Recommended Supplemental Reading) Remembering the Kana, James W. Heisig, University of Hawaii Press.
